So why do I suggest practicing minimalism? And what does that have to do with the upbringings of the ultra-wealthy? Minimalism, to begin with, is the practice of living with very little if few material things. It is living with the bare minimum and to do without such luxuries as cars, televisions and so forth. When you live a minimalistic lifestyle then you break yourself free from the fear that you might “lose it all” or that people will look down on you for not having material possessions.
MINIMALISM CAN HELP YOU:
· Focus on what matters most
· Enjoy real freedom
· Grow as a person
· Create more, consume less
· Consume less while creating more
· Pursue your greatest desires
· Discover your passion
When you practice minimalism you break free from the bonds of society; you have the freedom to not compare yourself to others who live and die by material goods. You’re free from fear, guilt, worry and depression. Why is this? Because you have already lived a bare bones life, thrived in it and know there’s nothing to lose! When you practice minimalism and have lived a minimalistic lifestyle people’s worst fears won’t affect you.
Steve Jobs, known as one of the greatest innovators of our times, practiced minimalism during his trip to India; during this time he simply wore a lungi and walked around barefoot. It was through this practice of minimalism that allowed him to break free of the bond that most Americans hold today; bonds such as class status, need for material goods and ego. Kevin Kelly of WIRED Magazine also practiced minimalism and traveled around with the bare minimum. It was through this practice that he was able to work through the fear of losing it all and being content with minimal goods.
By practicing the worst case scenario and living a minimal lifestyle you face the fears you might have. Once you face your fears, will you then have the courage to go big, go bold and take risks. Minimalism allows you to act in spite of the emotions you have and work towards the successful person you were meant to be!
