1) CLARITY. DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT.
Have a big vision. List all the accomplishments you want in life before you die and begin to act on them. The key is you must tell people, those closest to you or a public announcement so that it is binding and you have something to lose if you don’t complete it. Also when you tell people what your vision is, you will attract others with similar dreams and they can help you or share ideas with you.
2) SET SPECIFIC GOALS & OBJECTIVES.
The more specific the better, you cannot be vague. You must know EXACTLY what you want and why you want it therefore it’ll be easier to lay out the necessary plan. Your mind is like a ship, the more specific the destination the more precisely you will map out a plan to get there. If you are vague and say you want to, for example head to the Bahamas, then any island would do.
3) VISUALIZE YOUR RESULTS.
Visualization will allow your mind to see your goal as if it is real and will open the windows of opportunities to you. This is done through the use of the reticular activating system. As an example, remember when you bought your last car? And as soon as you bought the car you began to see the car everywhere? That’s the RAS at work. If the reticular activating system didn’t block out all of the information and noise (from cars, people talking around us, dogs barking, cars honking) our minds would explode, therefore it blocks everything out unless its of importance to us. Visualization allows the reticular activating system to open our minds & ears to opportunities for things we hold dear to our heart.
4) MASSIVE ACTION.
Knowledge and goals are useless without action. Action is the key to all success and the world’s wealthiest and most affluent didn’t achieve great levels of success by inaction.
5) RAPID ITERATION / RAPID CUSTOMER FEEDBACK.
Use the feedback we get from the action we take, learn from it and adjust. The action is what’s most important; inaction will simply keep us on the sideline as a spectator. You must introduce products or services into the market as soon as possible and learn from the feedback you receive. If you wait idly by for things to be perfect, you lose out on valuable opportunities. As Reid Hoffman once said “If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late”
You must persevere and work through the failures and the mistakes. The failures are simply life’s teacher; embrace failure because out of failure comes growth. Out of failure comes strength. And out of failure comes the knowledge that you are one step closer to achieving the success that you desire. The only way you fail is if you quit therefore you must PERSEVERE.
